Eligibility for admission

The candidates should have passed BA/ B.Sc degree examination under 10+2+3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary from any of the Universities in Kerala or any other University recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equalent there to for admission, subject to the stipulation regarding marks. Such candidates should produce their Migration and Eligibility certificates or equivalent certificates as required. The applicant should be qualified in all respects on the last date of submission of application. The minimum requirement for admission is 45% marks for Bachelors Degree (Science/ Art subjects) in aggregate (i.e for part I+II+III) Applicants from outside Kerala should produce Nativity Certificate

Choice of optional subjects: REQUIREMENTS

(a) English: B. A. Degree with English language and Literature/ Functional English/ B.A. Communicative English with 45% marks in aggregate or B.A. / B. Sc. with 50% of marks for Part I English and not less than 50% marks for Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature.

(b) Malayalam: B.A. Degree with Malayalam Language and Literature with 45% marks in aggregate or B.A. / B. Sc. with 50% of marks for Part II Malayalam and not less than 50% marks for Master’s Degree in Malayalam Language and Literature.

(c) Mathematics: B. Sc. Degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Statistics as main, with 45% marks in aggregate. Candidates with Statistics/Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.

(d) Natural Sciences: B. Sc. Degree with Botany / Zoology / Biochemistry / B.Sc. Plant Science / [Home Science with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary] / Aquaculture (with Biochemistry and Zoology as Subsidiaries)/Biotechnology/Microbiology with 45% marks in aggregate.

(e) Physical Sciences: B. Sc. Degree with Physics / Chemistry/ Polymer Chemistry/ B. Sc. Geology / B. Sc. Petrochemicals/ B. Sc. Bio chemistry / B.Sc Industrial Chemistry main with 45% marks in aggregate.

(f) Social Science: B. A. Degree with History/ Arabic and Islamic History main with 45% marks in aggregate or B. A. Degree with Geography/ Politics/ Economics/ Sociology/ Psychology/ Philosophy/ West Asian Studies under part III and with 45 % marks in aggregate.

The optional subject for the B.Ed course should be the same as the one, which the student has selected as the main subject for graduation.

Relaxation in marks.

a. Candidate belonging to the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe [SC/ST] communities with pass marks, for Graduation and Postgraduation in the respective optional subjects are eligible for admission.

b. Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward [SEBC] communities will be given 3% concession in aggregate marks.

c. Candidates belonging to Other Eligible Communities [OEC] will be given 5% concession in aggregate marks.

d. Candidates should be physically fit and mentally sound. Deaf / Dumb candidates are not eligible, however, blind candidates will be eligible for admission to any optional other than science optionals.

CERTIFICATE/DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION FORM

1. Self-attested photocopy of the SSLC Book or any relevant school record to prove the Date of Birth

2. Self attested photocopy of the mark list of all parts of the qualifying examinations.

Documents to be produced at the time of admission

1. SSLC Book in original/relevant record to proof the date of Birth

2. Original mark list and certificate of the qualifying examination

3. Conduct certificate and Transfer certificate from the institution where the candidates studied last.

4. 2 copies of a recent passport size photograph

5. Eligibility certificate from the concerned University (exemption is given to Calicut University)

Fees

The fees such as Tuition Fee/ Special Fee/ Development Fee and Matriculation Fee as prescribed by Government/ University will be collected.

Details of Course and duration

This is a course aiming at the Bachelor Degree in Education. The course of study shall be evaluated by regular attendance for the requisite number of Lectures and practical training under the Semester system.
